Ashton Ramsey is a folk artist historian, story teller and reader in New Orleans.
Based on the black Carnival tradition of storytelling through the intricate suits of the Mardi Gras indians, Ashton creates story-filled suits, retelling African American histories, among other topics.
His work is a part of Prospect.2 New Orleans and his suits can be seen through January 29 at the Ogden Museum of Southern Art.
