Los Angeles-based photographer Patrick Simpson has created a new photo series documenting the lives of prisoners at the Angola Prison in Louisiana. At Angola Prison in Louisiana, model inmates or ‘trustees’ are encouraged to participate in hobby craft as a part of their rehabilitation. Most prisoners are serving the rest of their life here.

Lucky Dragons is the Los Angeles based collaborative musical project of Luke Fischbeck and Sarah Rara. Their performances are less of a concert and more of a happening that involves participation of the audience. While building layers of sound produced with pre-recorded loops and beats, the audience is given small instruments such as maracas and a lamellophone that are then run through a processor and make additional layers that have corresponding visuals.
They’ve been featured performers in the 2008 Whitney Biennial and at PS1’s Printed Matter Book Fair. Additionally, they host a drawing collective that is open to anyone who would like to participate called Sumi Ink Club.
Lucky Dragons’ new album, EXISTERS was released this week and is available in limited edition of 500 with a 24 page Risograph booklet and screen printed covers.
