Occasional Papers just released the first anthology of its kind, Graphic Design: History in the Writing (1984–2011), which comprises some of the most influential published texts about graphic design history. The book documents the development of the relatively young field of graphic design history from 1983 to today, underscoring the aesthetic, theoretical, political and social tensions that have underpinned it from the beginning.

Recent Master of Fine Art from University of New Orleans, Jason Derouin, has a great feature in Nola.com written by recent addition to the arts page writer/artist Georgia Kennedy.
Derouin creates 1:12 scale models of interiors that call to mind retro “bachelor pads” and then photographs the scenes to create very beautiful prints.

Walker Percy is modern New Orleans’ literary behemoth. Though his influence is unlikely to eclipse Tennessee Williams’, and it’s possible John Kennedy Toole’s A Confederacy of Dunces rivals even The Moviegoer’s fame, no local writer from the last half of the 20th century produced a body of work that matches Percy’s. He is exalted in New Orleans and the South, and recognized internationally for the aesthetic mastery, dark humor, and philosophical rigor of his novels and essays.
Walker Percy: a Documentary will screen at Loyola University New Orleans on Wednesday, January 26, at 7 p.m. in Monroe Hall’s Nunemaker Auditorium.
